Image and specifications of an Asus-branded game controller surfaced online. The Game Box appears to be an Android-powered game console powered by a Tegra 4 chip.
A listing for a device called Asus Game Box was spotted in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s database. The BSIG is the body that certifies all devices that use the Bluetooth standard, and its publicly available docs often contain clues of upcoming Android devices. According to the leaked information, the Game Box controller (pictured above) features a 430mAH battery that should be good for up to 12 hours of gameplay. The listing describes the device as an Android gaming console, living little room for interpretation.
The listing does not reveal any info about the actual console, the box that will connect to your TV, probably similarly to the Ouya. However, as Liliputing notes, specs of the Game Box surfaced in a benchmark listing from the beginning of the year, and include a Tegra 4 SoC, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage.
Google itself has been rumored to prepare the launch of an Android-powered console/set-top-box, that should reportedly launch by the middle of the year. As part of an effort to bolster its gaming team, Google has acquired controller maker Green Throttle back in November, as we learned earlier this week.
