We live and breathe mobile technology, the latest apps, the best smartphones, tablets, and much more. More importantly, we live to serve you, our dear readers.
As such, we take this very seriously. We review mobile technology for a living, and know that many come to us for device reviews, and for our opinion. Consequently, we thought it wise to award the very best devices at each major tradeshow (CES, MWC, IFA) an award. We’ve opted for a triple category system: Best Android Phone, Best Android Tablet, and Best Android Accessory. We will be giving these awards at the end of every major event, every year. For our inaugural awards, we’ve decided to award the following awards down below. These are representative of the best of breed tech that will be available to you, the consumer, very soon. Read on!
Best Android Phone – ASUS Zenfone series
ASUS is a company we’ve followed for a long time. Veterans of producing exceptional hardware, they are vying for an explosive entrance in Western markets in 2014. And, if all is right in the universe, then they very well should. At $99 for their excellent Zenfone 4, $149 for their Zenfone 5, and $199 for their Zenfone 6, these devices bring exceptional build quality, great specs, and customization at extremely aggressive price points. We’ll be following them very closely, so stay tuned!
The US is a difficult market to enter, and often requires the cooperation of one of the major carriers. Let us know down below what you think of ASUS’ Zenfone line, and what carrier you’d like to see them on. ASUS seems to have struck a great partnership with AT&T, and will also be debuting their Padfone X, so it’s likely we will see them on both AT&T as well as unlocked. For the price point, these are excellent devices!

ASUS ZenFone 4 First Look! [CES 2014] Best Android Accessory – LG Lifeband Touch
LG has created an exceptional product with the LG Lifeband Touch, and one that seeks to fill a niche role in the ever competitive wearable space. Not seeking to be all things to all people, the Lifeband excels in the areas that it should. Packing a curved OLED touchscreen display, this waterproof wearable takes athletic technology to the next level.
We decided to award LG our first Best Android Accessory award because the Lifeband Touch brings best in class technology in a svelte, waterproof and comfortable package that features a great touchscreen OLED display, is not cumbersome, and will likely satisfy techno-athletes everywhere. Plus, the app they debuted to us was very impressive, and does a lot of cool stuff with the data the device itself grabs. Congratulations to LG for creating a great product!
Best Android Tablet – Samsung Galaxy TabPro 8.4
Samsung, as a veteran and highly accomplished world leading manufacturer is often called upon to drive the industry forward. They are the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, the world’s largest display manufacturer, and much, much more. At CES 2014, we were extremely pleased to see them debut a tablet, which, for all intents and purposes, represents a true best in class product.
Packing industry leading specs across the board, the Galaxy TabPro 8.4 features a remarkable 2560×1600 8.4 inch display, lightning fast Snapdragon 800 processing, and packs it all in a svelte 331 gram package. Hats off to Samsung for bringing to market the most technically advanced tablet of 2014, thus far!
